Well I was puggin' Winter Wonderland quest and joined a 8/0 group for ease. So we map in and everyone sets off apart from 2 people who grey out at the start. So i thought aah might be afk and when we completed (almost 4mins) and mapped back to ToA i checked their tags. They were in the same guild as the leader, so we enter again and once again they don't move and we complete(slightly better but still pretty much 4mins). Now i'm a patient and lenient person so i thought i'll give it one more run then ask what's going on. So after the 3rd run which i died in (lagged out, handy as i could then make sure they weren't just running off the wrong way), we map back to town and he enters the quest again.
So i ask "Are those 2 people going to come back and help us or are they just leeching off of us?"
Leader replies "/sigh here we go again"
Me "What do you mean?"
Leader "They're not leeching they're my 2 other accounts and they're helping me farm for presents"
Me "Excuse me but you have 3 accounts doing this and are only moving in 1 of them, to me that equates to leeching with the other 2"
Leader "No leeching only happens in PvP, i need the presents and if you don't like it i will kick you."
Me "So is it ok if i just hang around at the start for the next one seeing as you don't mind doing it yourself"
Leader "I will kick you like everyone else who is bad at playing and makes me work harder for my presents"
I laughed and mapped back to ToA at that point. I mean how can someone be so greedy and stupid at the same time

I've seen someone do similar to this. He was forming a group for Winter Wonderland, and so we get a full group, go in, and I notice the leader isn't moving. So like you, I waited for a few more runs, and he still wasn't moving, and so I asked him what he was doing, and he replies 'I'm going for Legendary Survivor'. To me this is pretty much leeching. So I got kicked from the party along with a few other guys who questioned him as well. I thought this was completely selfish, but at the same time I had a good laugh. Also felt sorry for the people who decided to stay after I got kicked.

Theres only one way to get to that type of player... get together the players and pull everything to the leacher waiting at the spawn. After he leaves in a hissyfit (Even better if he doesnt get out of the way fast enough and gets snowballed to death ) look for a replacement while wiping tears from your eyes from laughing so much.
Maybe that will teach him not to leach the survivor title in a PUG and especially not to force other people to farm his titles for him if they havent agreed to something like that in the first place.

Stupidest thing?
"Monks aren't healers" rates right up there with the monk (healer) that told me "I don't carry a rez - monks don't rez".
And this was before we had monk heroes!

Other than UA, he's right, a monk shouldn't be bringing a res.

Not sure if it counts, but in the many years I've played this game, I've yet to own a single glob of ecto.
Also joined a guild a couple of years back, left the game, came back and surprisingly the guild didn't kick me out (which was the sensible thing to do to inactive members), played for a couple of weeks only to find out that everyone in the guild left and made me leader... i know have guild filled with inactive players with a pretty nifty guild hall...
Speaking about going back, I missed the 7-hero update and I played a for a couple of weeks without this knowledge still running my sabways and discordways...

That happened to me years ago. I came back and had taken ownership of a guild by default.
It took me years to play regularly enough to ever see an ecto. Now I seem to be getting them in bunches. As a matter of fact, I played for 4 years (on and off) before I ever opened a trade window with another player. The first time I was nervous because I wasn't sure what to do. Which was strange because I played Diablo II until late 2008 and there I was a power trading rich ass fool.

Just got my first birthday mini. Took it on mission. Afterwards party member said "Anyone who has a mini can just leave it in the car!" He went on to explain it was not fair that all players did not have minis. Often wondered what happened to him. Incredibly stupid, but he expressed himself well.

So, recently was ATFH-Zmish-Day. I usually use days like that, in addition to Morah, Imperial Snacktime, and (to a lesser degree) Augury to make a little extra cash. So I hop on my trusty sin, do a test run to make sure I'm not suffering from terminal stupid, and start advertising "Running ZM HM for tips, 4/8" or something like that in CtC. An aside here: I often say running "for tips" not only because I'm just generous like that, but because setting a price either discourages customers, or discourages them from giving you more than that. Saying "for tips" often results in higher pay than someone who simply says "for 1k" (the usual price for that mish, afaik). Of course, some people interpret tips as "pay optional". I don't like that, but as far as they don't whine about me asking them if they're gonna pay, we can both grumble and go our separate ways. Anyway, back to the story. So I get a usual group of 4 customers, ask if everyone's ready and begin the run. No Deeds, quick run, and we're in Epilogue... where people usually pay. I get 3/4 of the party to pay. However, this one fellow insists that "tips" means "I pay if I want to". I respond that, he doesn't have to pay, but tips does not mean free. So we both head back to town via resign (me giving him an opportunity to pay). Of course, he trades me and offers.... 1g. He then tries to convince people in all-chat that 1g is still a tip. Long story short, he's immediately shot down. Awesome thing is, I didn't even have to say much of anything. He tries to tell me that I need to "go back to school and learn what tip means". Again, he's immediately shot down by the rest of the residents of CtC.
Sometimes I love the community. Rarely, but sometimes.

Today in JQ I heard, from a Mesmer:
"Wastrel's Demise is OP."
When asked if he used it: "No. I don't use an OP skill, because that's cheating."
About a week ago I was trying to sell ecto, and the price had gone up a bit to 8k at the rare material trader. So I was trying to sell a few, had about 6 at the time, and someone whispered me saying they would buy them for 8k. I asked them if they would consider raising that up to 8.5 per, since I could just go vendor it for 8k. I was then told:
"lol then go vendor it"
When I tried to explain to this individual that he could BUY it from the rare mats vendor for 10k, and I could sell it for 8k, so buying it from me for 8.5k was still a deal and that THAT is how market prices work and change, he told me that I didn't know the market and should take an economics class. Then proceeded to put me on ignore. 2 minutes later, I sold them all for 8.5 per.

I love the last part.
But coming from someone who always uses such runs, I always tip above and beyond. I don't know why, since "for tips" means "you pay me anyway" but it seems much less a business transaction and more of a bud helping you out. Does that make sense?
Also, the one time I ever ran anything, it was running a guy to my EotN Garden for him to charm a Jingle Moa when they first came out. He have me an ecto, knowing full well what they were worth because "It's all I have to give you" Shit warms the heart right there.
----------
I just got into a PUG for a fow speeedclear, and after a buuuunch of waiting and grumbling amongst the sins as to who will be what, someone enters us into Underworld. VoS in a pink dress aggroes all Ataxes, and I map the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO outta there! Go back to ToA and check my chatlog, the Necro is all "WTF WAR STUPID FAGGON NOOB"
...And I'm all (Warriors don't have dresses!)
Anyway, in ToA allchat this guys is spamming about how I'm stupid and should die.
On a sidenote, this happens ALOT now! 1/5 groups I enter in ToA wether it's UW/FoW or Vanquishes & Bounties, hell even Winter Wonderlands, the last 2 weeks I was guaranteed an unwanted trip to Grenthland.
Mod edit: This thread isn't to discuss the definition of a tip. Please stay on-topic.

Same exact thing happened to me last year. Spent a good whole day walking outside of EotN so people could tame the pet(s). Never asked for payment or tips but still made over 100k that day.
